Fiesta® Collection – What If You Want To Sell?

Fiesta collectionI received this question from a person wanting to sell a Fiesta collection and gave the following answer. Does anyone have better advise? If so, leave a comment.  This post has been updated since this original question but the question comes up regularly.

“I want to sell my entire collection of Fiesta, both vintage & contemporary. It’s not a very large collection & I have no inventory. But it would take quite a long time to start trying to sell it a piece at a time on ebay. Besides, it’s been so long since I’ve messed with any of it, I don’t even know what it’s worth anymore. Do you know of anyone who evaluates things like this. Or maybe someone who purchases in larger lots? I’d like to find someone I can trust.”

Answer: I think you have a couple of choices. First, go to Ebay and Amazon and look up the pieces and see what they have been selling for in general.  You may not find the exact piece but you might get close.  The published books are all out of date so that wouldn’t be much help.  There are sites like replacements.com that fill in pieces of sets for people.  There are several sites where people sell Fiesta, even on Etsy and Facebook.  Contact as many as you can with as many detailed pictures as you can and ask for quotes.

Local estate sale people are often aware of what a collection might bring in your area.  When I dealt with an estate sales company they were very familiar with china and what would sell along with a lot of other odd things.  You should call around and ask if any specialize in selling Homer Laughlin pieces.

I would group it together in colors. There are plenty of people that prefer certain colors and like to fill in sets. Put the groups on ebay per color.

Another idea would be Craig’s List. Then you could sell all of it at once and wouldn’t have to worry about shipping.

You could look up prices and set up a fiestaware garage sell and list it on Craig’s list. You will have lots of people show up to take it off your hands. You will have to already know your prices.

There are also consignment stores all over the country.

I would start with got4it and go to ebay and go to where it shows closed sales. You can put in your pieces and get the prices they sold for, then go from there. Group by color, and/or by expensive and inexpensive pieces. Also, look the pieces up on Ebay.  You can find out what they sold for.  Ebay is the best place to sell, good prices and low cost for selling.

I don’t know anyone to suggest for pricing. It all changes so often and the pieces have to be looked over very carefully usually in person. Use craigs list to advertise for someone to evaluate your collection, but ask for references.

Anyone else have any ideas?

  • I have just a few pieces and the cake plates that sell on Ebay or Etsy for a lot of money. They are vintage in super shape and from the earliest era. I don’t know what to do first and am amazed by such varied prices. I hope you can sell your pieces for says:

    Great question!
    Excellent answer!
I’m going through the same thing: I have about 300 pieces of antique and vintage Fiestaware. I’ve started taking photos of each piece and written down the sizes and any irregularities. My hope was to set up my own website so everything would be in one place. The problem is that I’m disabled and can’t just work through several days of cleaning items, photographing them from multiple angles, cataloging them and then get website set up. So far I’ve only cleaned and photographed around 50 (mostly dinner plates, saucers, and BOWLS!!!).
A friend of mine stopped by and suggested I just start listing what I’ve got on eBay now instead of waiting for months to finish cleaning, and photographing everything.
Do you think I should start selling them one by one on eBay or Craigslist?
Or do you think I should wait until the whole collection is ready?
    Sorry this is so long!!!
    I eagerly await your advice!
    Thank you in advance!

    Kathleen

I have a full set of Fiesta ware in Juniper. I have serving pieces too.
Very good condition. I am interested in selling it. Replacements Ltd. Offers very little for what they sell items for.
I would appreciate someplace in Delaware, It would be very hard to ship.
    Thank you,

Having found a few 5 piece sets of lilac for dirt cheap, I was looking to offload a few of them. I got in touch with Replacements Ltd. They sell a 5 piece place setting for $209 and offered me $62 dollars per set. Needless to say they’re still in a box in my basement.

But if you have a bunch, you could send them a list of your colors and they will send you a list of how much they will buy it for. You still have to get it to them, and they would still have to accept it… having not sent them anything I don’t know how that part is. I’ll probably ebay this stuff if it doesn’t sell out of my mother-in-laws’ antique booth.
