Fiesta 9-Inch Luncheon Plate in Scarlet

Fiesta 9-Inch Luncheon Plate, ScarletFiesta 9-Inch Luncheon Plate in Scarlet. Homer Laughlin introduced Scarlet fiestaware in 2004. This plate has the Fiestaware concentric rings around the plate rim so it matches the other Fiesta pieces. It is a bright fresh Scarlet but has a 100 percent lead-free glaze, unlike the vintage red pieces. Just ike othr Fiesta pieces, this plate is heavier than most stoneware. The plate is 9 inches in diameter. This size is perfect for a large sandwich, a slive of pizza or a cut-up apple & some cheese. A dinner plate is too big and Fiesta’s bread plate is too small. It’s totally versatile, usable as a sandwich, salad, or dessert plate. Just right for a piece of pie or cake.

I like this size plate for portion control. If you fill the 10 1/2 inch plate your will eat all of the food. If you fill up the 9 inch plate you still may eat all of it but you will have mentally told yourself you ate a whole plate of food and need to stop eating.

Whether you choose to gather a rainbow of Fiestaware objects or stick to one color scheme, they all deserve to be on display. These plates are an ideal size for American-size dinners. Darker colors may show cutting marks after extended use, but other than that they wear very well. Like other Fiesta, these are chip resistant and can be put in the dishwasher, oven, or refrigerator.

If you are looking for a set of Christmas dishes, consider the Fiesta Scarlet dishes. You can purchase a 20 piece set and then add pieces to it or start with one piece at a time, like this 9 inch luncheon plate. Price runs around $15.00.
