Fiesta fruit bowl or Fiesta nappy bowl? I received this email and wanted to pass anything that could be learned from the question on to the general readership.
“Hello, I think these are fruit bowls. no lips, and they have white rings in the center (inside)…there are 8 small ones and 3 large ones. The stamp on the back has fiesta with a capital F. It does NOT have “lead free” anywhere on the pieces. The seller wants $2 each for the lot. I am just getting started with Fiesta. Is this a good deal?”

(Second email) “I bought the bowls. The larger ones do have lips. I think the smaller ones are fruit bowls and the larger ones are nappy bowls. (5.5 inches and 8.5 inches) I have since heard that the white is showing thru due to a more translucent glaze, which could mean these are newer. But how new??? I have included pix this time. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.”

The bowls pictured are probably from the 1960’s, the cobalt blue and logo appear to be from that period. As for the white rings – someone may have put the bowls in the dishwasher – the older Fiesta was not dishwasher safe.

The contemporary Fiesta, of course, is safe to put in the dishwasher. We have seen that thin glazing, which makes the white rings show, when someone has let the dishwasher wash off the glaze. I showed your pictures to my friend and she and I agree with you about which bowls these are. There are fruit bowls in 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 inches, so you have the 5 1/2 inch fruits, and there are 8 1/2 and 9 1/2 inch nappy’s and you have the smaller ones. Don’t confuse when you see the 14 oz cereal bowl which is available in 13 colors.

. It is the same bowl but listed as 14 oz bowl on sites like Amazon where other places list them as 4.5 or 5.5 inch diameter. Same thing – about 5 inch diameter and holds 14 ounces.
This was a good buy on your part.
Anybody else get a great deal? Send me the info and we will brag for you.
There are still great deals on nappy bowls out there – go find them and enjoy!
