Discontinued Fiestaware: Rare and Collectible Dishes

Radioactive Red Carafe

Whether you love Fiestaware or whether you’re just looking to invest in something valuable, you’ll want to search for vintage and discontinued items. There are a few pieces that are truly valuable, though many of these items are also hard to find. The carafe in the picture was listed for $75 at the time of updating this post in 2019.

Even if you don’t find one of the coveted pieces listed below, you will discover that many antique retailers sell all kinds of vintage Fiestaware items.

Perhaps the two most sought after Fiestaware pieces are the divided plate and the turquoise onion soup bowl. Divided plates were all the rage during the early 1930s, since these plates prevented food from touching – a popular notion even today! While divided plates were discontinued in 1936, you may be able to track one down at an antique shop or at an online auction.

The turquoise onion soup bowl (and the whole turquoise line, really) has been cherished ever since it was released. While the bowl has been discontinued, a few of are still in circulation. You’ll pay top-dollar for this beloved item, but if you want to make a Fiestaware investment, then this is the bowl for you. As mentioned, you can buy lots of great vintage Fiestaware that’s not pricey, though there’s one thing that you should know.

If you happen to find a piece of Fiestaware that doesn’t have a “Genuine Fiesta” stamp on the back of it, don’t fret – this stamp wasn’t added to Fiestaware until many years after the line took off. So, it is entirely possible to find Fiestaware at an antique store that does not have any markings on it – in fact, items without markings are probably more valuable than items that are marked! If you happen to be one of the lucky ones who find a turquoise onion soup bowl or divided plates, then you’ll have purchased an item that will only gain in value as the years pass. If not, then any Fiestaware item will surely brighten up your kitchen.

I was reading your article and I have some turquoise sugar/cream and figure 8 tray and several other vintage fiestaware pieces wrapped in a box. I would like to sell this, but don’t know how to go about doing this. Could you please help me out. Sincerely, N. Davidson
