Harlequin By Homer Laughlin Part 2

Posted on August 23, 2009 by FiestaFan

Continuing with Harlequin, we are up to talking about the 1940′s. In the forties, there were several new colors added. They were tangerine, rose, turquoise, and light green. Light green is fairly rare. There was another color reported, a Salmon color. Rose probably replaced Salmon, but it isn’t really known and it is hard to tell the difference between the two if there one was. We are not sure if it was more a change of name or color.

Harlequin in the 1950′s added more new colors. The new colors were dark green (forest), gray, and chartreuse. Also, yellow, turquoise, and rose continued to be produced.

The last piece of Harlequin was produced in 1964.

In 1979 the Homer Laughlin company was asked by the Woolworth company to make a special limited line of Harlequin for their 100th anniversary. The Harlequin was made as ironstone. The Harlequin Ironstone was made in two of the original colors, yellow and turquoise, and also in a medium green that was different that the original medium green and in coral, a completely new shade.

In 1959 the colors of Harlequin was reduced to red, turquoise, Harlequin yellow, and medium green.
