Fiesta 18-1/2-Ounce Sauceboat, ScarletFiesta 18-1/2-Ounce Sauceboat manufactured by The Homer Laughlin China Company. The Sauce boat, exciting and new.......(sing along with me). Wether you call it a sauceboat, sauce boat, gravy boat or saucière it is a table must. Do you think the Sauceboat is a must have? You aren't alone in that sauceboat, we love it on the table. You can use it for gravy, dressing, or of course sauce. Sauceboats have been used for sauces since ancient times, the modern fashion for sauce boats probably derived from fashion in the late 17th century French Court. Sauceboats with two handles and two spouts were reported as early as 1690. I love it for roast gravy, meatloaf gravy, and of course sausage gravy in the mornings. Put some biscuits on the large scarlet plate and sausage gravy in the sauceboat and you have a great looking Southern breakfast. Start a tradition your grandkids will remember and then fight over who gets the sauceboat when you are no longer around to use it. Perhaps you are a saucier, (French for Sauce Chef) and have been professionally trained to cook sauces and will be using it everday. Wether you use it daily or just for special occasions, this one is a winner.

The very durable glaze is great for everyday but looks great enough for special occasions. You can buy the small scarlet plate for the sauceboat to sit on to catch drips. Some sauceboats also function as gravy separators, with a spout that pours from the bottom of the container, thus leaving any surface-floating fat in the container but this one isn't like that.
