Harlequin By Homer Laughlin Part 1

Posted on August 22, 2009 by FiestaFan

Collectors,

While not officially "Fiesta", Harlequin was another line of dinnerware from the Homer Laughlin Company. Harlequin was produced as a less expensive dinnerware and sold through the F. W. Woolworth Company exclusively. Harlequin does NOT have the "Fiesta" trademark on the bottom.

Designed by Fredrick Rhead in the Fiesta Art Deco style, Harlequin was actively promoted to the public beginning in 1938. The new line of dinnerware had the rings like fiesta, but the rings were spaced well away from the rim.

Eventually, over the years, the colors used for Harlequin were the same as Fiesta except for ivory and dark blue. The original Harlequin colors were yellow, green, red, and blue. Harlequin yellow is lighter and brighter than Fiesta yellow and the red was actually maroon. Harlequin blue was a mauve blueish color, and the Harlequin green was a spruce green.
