Fiestaware: Stained Tea Cups and Coffee Cups

One of our favorite pieces in a Fiestaware set are the tea cups, coffee mugs and tea saucers. We use them nearly everyday! Especially with the super awesome Fiesta tea pots. We actually have an entire Fiesta tea set complete with creamer and sugar dish. It”s really quite nice. But the problem with coffee and tea – especially really, really dark French roast like we like – is that it STAINS! It stains everything – there”s no escaping it. And there”s nothing like a piece of Yellow or Ivory Fiestaware mixed with some good dark coffee to get you stained Fiesta tea cups or Fiesta coffee cups in no time.

Luckily, cleaning these tea and coffee stains on Fiestaware is relatively easy. If you can”t scrub it off with soap and water or if it doesn”t come off in the dishwasher, try this: Fill your Fiesta mug or Fiesta tea cup with a little bit of warm water. Fill it up so the stain is completely submerged. If the stain is all the way to the rim or on the lip, you may want to just fill your sink with warm water. Next, drop a little bit of household cleaner into the water. It should have some kind of bleach in it, like 409 or Clorox. Do not use straight bleach on your Fiestaware. Just a little bit of household cleaner with bleach mixed with lots of water will do. Now, let it sit for about 1o to 15 minutes or longer, if needed. Rinse it thoroughly and then put it through the dishwasher like normal. That should take care of those pesky stains!

Black fiestaware teacups gave lost their hi gloss luster
Any suggestions to revive this finish?

Mr Clean’s Magic Erasers take those nasty stains right off, with no elbow grease or stinky smells. My husband lets his morning coffee mug sit for hours before he brings it to the kitchen sink. The coffee ring (at the level where he let it sit and forgot to drink it) is waaaay beyond what a sponge & dish detergent can handle. With a damp magic eraser, its just one quick wipe & the ring is gone, and into the dishwasher it goes. Really quick & easy 🙂 -Liz-

hi there. i have a couple of fiesta pieces that i am trying to identify. one is an odd orangish red color with the “old stamp” however, it also has a VV on it. Every where I look I see that the VV means it would have been produced after 1986, however, the actual “fiesta” stamp coinceides with the “old” fiesta stamps (lowercase and all small letters and not “colored” it blends with the dish) The piece is an oval serving platter about 11 1/2 inches across the top (long way). The other piece is a round, yellow serving platter. It has double rings on the bottom with NO fiesta mark on the back, however, the rings on the top do “meet” Fiesta guidelines, getting closer together. I could send you pics if you would be willing to check them out. I am just curious. My parents found these pieces at auctions for dirt cheap and gave them to me to add to my all “New” collection.

I would appreciate any help as I have met dead ends so far.
